The Clinton Genealogical and Historical Society will host Nick Walters on Tuesday, October 13, with a presentation about Jackson’s historic Greenwood Cemetery.

The cemetery was established by an act of the Mississippi State Legislature on January 1, 1823. At twenty-two acres, it is downtown Jackson’s largest green space and was the burying place for all residents of Jackson until the end of the 19th century. Numerous governors, public officials, teachers, clergy and Confederate soldiers are buried there.

Walters serves on the board of directors of Greenwood Cemetery Association. He has spent three decades turning history into leadership lessons — as a professor at Mississippi Christian University, a former USDA state leader, and the voice behind This Week in Christian History. He holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in history from MC.

The presentation will be held at 6 p.m. at Northside Baptist Church at 1475 East Northside Drive.
