A former Clinton High School football standout played a big part in Northwest Mississippi Community College’s home win last night. Wide receiver E. Jai Mason had a team-high five catches for 94 yards and a touchdown in the Rangers’ 45-13 shellacking of Northeast Mississippi Community College.

Mason’s touchdown came early in the first quarter and gave the Rangers a 7-0 lead. The 69-yard play was the 2020 Clinton High School graduate’s longest catch in his career as well as his first touchdown of the season. Mason’s 94 total receiving yards in the game were also tied for most on the team.

Mason currently has 13 catches for 182 yards this season. His 13 grabs rank him second on the Rangers in that category. Mason’s 182 yards are third-highest on the team, and he is also averaging 14.0 yards per catch. His yards per catch average is fourth-best on the team.

Mason is currently in his second year in Senatobia. In the Rangers’ national championship winning season last year, he tallied 17 catches for 217 yards and two touchdowns.

The defending national champions currently have a 3-1 record and are ranked 14th in the NJCAA Division I rankings. Mason and his teammates will face off against perennial junior college  power (and 11th-ranked) East Mississippi Community College in an important division battle next Thursday. Kickoff from Senatobia will be at 7:00 p.m.
