CHS grad finds end zone twice in NWCC win

Clinton High School graduate E. Jai Mason scored two touchdowns in Northwest Mississippi Community College’s (NWCC) 49-10 win over Itawamba Community College on September 22nd. The touchdowns were Mason’s first scores of the season. The sophomore wide receiver now has eight touchdowns in his Ranger career.

 

Mason scored his first touchdown midway through the second quarter. His 12-yard touchdown catch from quarterback Ren Hefley put the Rangers up 21-10 and capped off an eight-play, 64-yard drive.

 

Mason’s second touchdown of the game was a 10-yard catch from Hefley in the third quarter to stretch the Rangers’ lead to 25 points. This touchdown capped off a 13-play, 75-yard drive.

 

Mason is the Rangers’ second-leading receiver this season with 11 catches for 185 yards. He has been a part of two state championship winning teams at NWCC and has tallied 72 catches for 954 yards and eight touchdowns in his career so far.

 

At the time of this writing, the Rangers are undefeated with a 4-0 record and sit at the top of the MACCC North Division with a 1-0 divisional record.
