Clinton Board holding only one meeting in December
By Randy Bell
As has been the tradition in Clinton, the Board of Aldermen meeting on December 3 was the only one scheduled during the month. The Board voted to cancel the December 17 meeting and is not expected to get together again until January, “unless something monumental comes up,” says Mayor Phil Fisher. “And, if that happens, then we’ll deal with it.”
State law requires cities to hold only one meeting each month, and, while Clinton usually has two, it normally cancels the second December meeting because of the busy Christmas holidays.
“People are traveling,” Fisher says. “And you look at when the next meeting would be, and that would fall right into that wheelhouse of travel, hunting and other things people do. We’ve been doing this, that I’m aware of, since the late ‘80s.”
The next Board meeting is set for January 7, preceded by a work session.
