On Monday, September 15, the day prior to the Board of Aldermen’s Tuesday meeting, the Board of Aldermen held an open meeting in reference to the City’s fiscal budget for 2026. With no comments from the public, the Board passed the budget, which will go into effect October 1, 2025.

Clinton’s Board of Aldermen meeting for September 16, 2025, opened with the Board passing a proclamation setting September 17-23 as Constitution Week.

With no Department Head presentation, the Board moved to approve an agreement with the Stennis Institute to have them conduct a salary survey, comparing the City of Clinton with comparable cities, as well as neighboring cities. This survey will be used to construct a modern salary step schedule for the future.

The Board passed a resolution of intent to change some language in the City’s zoning ordinances pertaining to industrial-zoned areas.

An approved agreement between the City and Entergy was passed, finalizing the City’s efforts in completing the sale and transfer of all municipal street lighting, allowing the City to incur significant savings over time.

The Board moved on two unkempt properties, then approved the hiring of a meter technician for Public Works.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Space will be provided in each issue of The Clinton Courier to the Board of Aldermen for a recap of each meeting. Aldermen are asked to volunteer to provide this recap for the Courier.
