Boxes of cereal and bottles of water along with many sacks of nonperishable food items filled a donation agency’s truck in Clinton recently. The efforts of a food drive inspired by the Women of Worth (WOW) organization resulted in the collection of many items to help supply area food banks.

Agencies have reported that challenges remain for into the new year. National headlines during the days prior to the thanksgiving observation shared a message of need by all food banks running short of supplies to help families needing aid.

WOW founder Kimberly McBride, who had voiced concern about the plight of the homeless, said the WOW members united in the food drive project and set up the collection day at the Lions Club Park ahead of the holidays.

McBride expressed thanks for the generosity of residents responding to the drive, saying, “Helping those in need is simply reminding the world that kindness still exists. Every act of charity begins with a simple belief that no one should walk their hardest road alone. The generosity shown in [this] project becomes someone’s opportunity for tomorrow.”
