Clinton’s Board of Aldermen meeting for November 4, 2025, opened with Clinton’s Director of Communications and Tourism Marlee Price-Cook. She shared that her department’s efforts to increase Clinton’s exposure on various platforms is yielding good numbers. Both the City’s Facebook and Instagram reach is growing, with 2025 netting over four million Facebook views.
Price-Cook pointed out that the various communication methods are critical during times of crisis, as well in times of celebrating the City’s accomplishments.
She said efforts towards moving the City’s website to be more user-friendly will soon be underway. The website’s changes will still incorporate artwork by Wyatt Waters, focusing less on tourism and more on providing citizens and visitors an easier way to find information and connect with City leaders.
She closed by giving an overview of her department’s educational pieces scheduled to explore the City’s comprehensive plan, ordinances and interactive aspects of the website.
The Board moved into the voting agenda, approving a motion to transfer a ground lease that is currently with the City to Gulf Relay in an effort for them to make future plans.
The Board approved a change order totaling $875,322.81 for the MCWI, or Mississippi Municipal and County Water Infrastructure Grant Act, force main improvement project due to a boring session encountering rock thus delaying the project.
The Board also approved the final payments for the 2024 pavement improvement projects for the Springridge Road and Clinton Boulevard projects. These projects were mainly funded by MDOT, so, by approving this final payment, the City will be able to seek these funds in the reimbursement process.
The Board approved a quote to Joe McGee Construction for $27,445 for the replacement of the guardrail for the bridge on Hood Drive. Public Works Director Phillip Lilley said this project was just outside of his department’s capabilities, so seeking a professional to complete this project will produce quality results.
The Board approved the promotions of two police officers, one being promoted to Sergeant and one to Lieutenant.
Three hires were approved by the Board: one dispatcher for Clinton Police Department, one grounds technician for Parks and Recreation and a truck driver for Public Works.
EDITOR’S NOTE: Space will be provided in each issue of The Clinton Courier to the Board of Aldermen for a recap of each meeting. Aldermen are asked to volunteer to provide this recap for the Courier.
