Baseball theme highlights next Dinner and a Movie
By Sherry Lucas
Dinner and a Movie, on Friday, April 24, in Olde Towne Clinton, hits a homer with its second installment in the spring series — the family sports fantasy-comedy Angels in the Outfield.
The free outdoor movie, a Main Street Clinton event, presents a prime reason to gather and enjoy the weather, company and entertainment on the brick streets, at sunset on the corner of Jefferson and Leake streets. Bring blankets, pillows and chairs for seating.
The 1994 movie stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as a foster kid and devout fan of the Anaheim Angels, the worst team in the major leagues.
When his estranged dad promises to get the family back together if the team makes it to the World Series, his son prays hard to make it happen. That prompts an actual angel (Christopher Lloyd) to show up and help out. The cast also includes Danny Glover, Tony Danza, Adrien Brody and Matthew McConaughey.
Main Street Clinton’s outreach to Clinton High and Mississippi College baseball teams may pull some players downtown to add atmospheric fun to the occasion.
Attendees are encouraged to grab dinner or a snack at one of several of Olde Towne’s eateries, sit back and enjoy the film.
