Local dance studio brings home awards, qualifies for national finals

Dance Works Studio of Clinton recently competed in Memphis, Tennessee, against dozens of dance studios from around the area at Showstopper, the largest dance competition in the country.

The studio brought home first place overall in Mini Performance Large with “Witch Doctor,” “Stray to Slay” received first place overall in Mini Advanced Large, “It’s a Hard Knock Life” received first place overall in Mini Advanced Super, “You Will be Found” received first place overall in Junior Advanced Large, “Ice Cream Paint Job” received first place overall in Junior Advanced Small, “Dust Bowl” received first place overall in Teen Advanced Large, “The Real Thing” received first place overall in Senior Advanced Super, “Ro’s Garden” received first place overall in Senior Advanced Small, “Jolene” received first place overall in Senior Advanced Large, “Telephone” received first place overall in Teen Advanced Super, “Cha Ching” received first place overall in Senior Advanced Duet/Trio, “Rags to Riches” received first place overall in Teen Advanced Super, Ashlyn Heindl received first place overall in Senior Advanced Solo, Kennedy Jefferson received first place overall in Teen Advanced Solo, and Julia Hogue received first place overall in Teen Shine Solo.

“Never Fully Dressed” received second place overall in Mini Advanced Large, “Swingin’ Heat” received second place overall in Senior Advanced Small, “Pink Panther” received second place overall in Senior Advanced Large, “Sticky Icky” received second place overall in Teen Advanced Large, Briana Stanton received second place overall in Junior Advanced Solo, and Molly Edwards received second place overall in Senior Advanced Solo.

“Warbucks Money” received third place overall in Senior Advanced Small, “Born, Never Asked” received third place overall in Senior Advanced Large, “King and Queen of New York” received third place overall in Senior Advanced Duet/Trio, Zuri Pearson received third place overall in Teen Advanced Solo, Lauren Kimbrell received third place overall in Senior Advanced Solo, and “Hopelessly Devoted” received third place overall in Junior Advanced Duet/Trio.

“Almost There” received seventh place overall in Mini Advanced Small, “Dance Works Icon” received seventh place overall in Junior Performance Small, “Monsters” received eighth place overall in Mini Advanced Small, “Some Where Out There” received ninth place overall in Mini Advanced Small, Casen Lee received ninth place overall in Mini Advanced Solo, Caroline Criddle received tenth place overall in Senior Advanced Solo, “Feeling Good” received tenth place overall in Teen Advanced Duet/Trio, and “Analie” received tenth place overall in Teen Advanced Small.

Dance Works Studio received sixteen double platinum awards, forty platinum awards and fifteen gold awards, which qualified them to go to the Showstopper National Finals in either Sandusky, Mashantucket, Myrtle Beach, Orlando, Anaheim, or Galveston this summer.
