Herron sets bench-press record, finishes third at state meet

Clinton High School powerlifter Allison Herron etched her name into the record books, setting a new girls’ bench press record in her weight class and finishing third in the MHSAA Class 7A State Powerlifting Meet on Friday, March 28, in Jackson.

The senior recorded a 160-pound bench press to break the previous state record, highlighting a podium performance at the Mississippi Coliseum.

Herron tallied 760 pounds across her three lifts, adding a 295-pound squat and a 305-pound deadlift to secure her third-place finish in her weight class.

In her previous outing at the MHSAA Class 7A North State Meet on February 28 in Oxford, Herron scored 730 points to qualify for the state meet.
